•   Easy-to-administer, enteric-coated capsules.
•   Can be used with other treatments and/or products, such as Epakitin.

Azodyl will ship on ice by Priority Mail Monday-Wednesday unless faster delivery is requested. A common problem in companion animals
Based on a survey conducted in 2005 among 109 U.S. veterinarians, chronic kidney disease affects, on average, 10.8% of cats and 5.2% of dogs brought in for consultation.1
•   The term "renal failure" refers to persistent azotemia accompanied by an inability to concentrate urine, usually resulting from a 75% loss of nephron function in both kidneys.
•   Kidney disease is a leading cause of death in dogs and cats.

An insidious process: The downward spiral of renal failure
•   Azotemia is defined as an increased concentration of non-protein nitrogenous compounds – usually urea and creatinine – in the blood, resulting from the kidneys’ impaired ability to filter and eliminate waste.
•   Current medical management of renal failure consists of supportive and symptomatic therapy designed to address underlying conditions (if known).
•   Except for dialysis and kidney transplants, which are not common in veterinary medicine, nothing has been available to specifically focus on the reduction of toxin buildup in the blood… until now.

New hope for compromised kidneys through targeted use of beneficial bacteria Introducing Azodyl…
•   Breakthrough bacterial product for the reduction of azotemia in dogs and cats.
•   Patented formulation of naturally-occurring beneficial bacteria that metabolize and flush out uremic toxins that have diffused into the bowel.
•   Supports kidney function by providing natural Enteric Dialysis®. Slows down uremic toxin buildup in the blood and helps prevent further kidney damage.
•   Minimizes the clinical and biochemical consequences of reduced renal function.
•   The product of choice at the first signs of azotemia in cases of acute or chronic kidney disease.

A powerful combination for advanced renal support
•   Azodyl is the first veterinary product to specifically focus on the reduction of azotemia.
•   Ideally suited for use in IRIS stages II to IV.
•   While Epakitin™ has been shown to contribute to lower urea concentrations, its strength lies in its ability to reduce serum phosphorous levels. Used together, Azodyl and Epakitin help reduce azotemia and phosphatemia.
•   Minimizing consequences of renal failure
•   Improving prognosis
•   Enhancing quality of life
•   Azodyl can safely be used with other conventional renal failure treatments, according to symptoms.

Promising results: Azodyl reduces azotemia in minipigs1

Conclusion: Azodyl administered orally on a daily basis has the potential to decrease BUN levels and prolong survival in renal insuficiency.

Study involved six 5/6th nephrectomized (equivalent to approximately 85% loss of kidney function) minipigs with moderate azotemia (mean = 104.2 ± 40.0 mg/dL), four weeks post-nephrectomy. 2-4 weeks after the beginning of the study:
- Placebo group = significant increase (p = 0.009) in mean BUN (to 150 ± 0 mg/dL) when compared to the Azodyl group
- Azodyl group = decrease in BUN (to 75.1 ± 37.9 mg/dL) 8 weeks after the beginning of the study:
- Placebo group = all minipigs died
- Azodyl group = significant decrease (p=0.0016) in BUN (to 45.0 ± 5.0 mg/dL)

Promising results: Preliminary clinical evaluation of Azodyl on feline azotemia2

Conclusion: Azodyl administered orally on a daily basis has the potential to decrease BUN and creatinine levels, and has a place in the management of chronic kidney disease in cats. Study involved seven cats presented to the author’s clinic with elevated BUN (41 to 74 mg/dL) and serum creatinine (2.6 to 7.9 mg/dL). All cats received Azodyl for a period of 60 days. Results at Day 60 indicate a decrease in BUN in all cats and a reduction in creatinine levels in six out of seven (86%) patients treated with Azodyl, even though dosing was less than the recommended amount in most cats. Reductions in serum BUN and creatinine levels were also observed at Day 30

We have a toy poodle that we rescued about a year ago. A few months ago, she started to pee every half hour or so and was lapping up unusually large quanties of water. The vet did tests on her and determined she has some renal problems. She started our poodle on Azodyl and a special diet. Within 2 days (no kidding) our little poodle was back to normal! She has been taking the medication every day and seems perfectly healthy. We are so grateful!

I can`t recommend this product enough! I came home one day to find my usually active cat huddled on a bathmat, feverish, moving only to drink, and would not touch her food. After a sonogram it was revealed that she had one tiny deformed kidney and one HUGE deformed malfunctioning one. The prognosis was not good, and I prepared for the worst. Well, after just a few days on Azodyl Misty regained her appetite fully, and after a week she was chasing her kitty roommates around like a kitten and had gained half a pound (a lot for her - she is tiny!). Its been 4 months now and she is still in wonderful shape and enjoying life! This stuff is a miracle drug.

Our Golden has been on Azodil for years. I was conce ed with ordering a prescription that needs to be kept cold during Christmas week. PetsTruly.com, handled our prescription quickly and our Azodol arrived on ice packs. It was the easiest time we ever had. Other companies have sent it warm over regular mail. We will definitely use them again.

My PKD cat has been on Azodyl twice a day and Clavamox once a day for 2 years, along with 75 ml of fluids eod. She is happy and does not appear ill although her illness is terminal. Azodyl helps her quality of life. Don`t whine about capsule size. Just poke it down the throat longwise.

My 18 yr. old Lhsa-Poo was only expected to live about 30 days after he was diagnosed with kidney failure. I immediately put him on Azodyl twice a day and he lived 2 more years. I would highly recommend it.

My cat had been diagnosed a couple months ago with kidney failure... She has been getting fluids daily and been on Epicatin.. and I just started one week ago with the Azodyl. I have not noticed a change.. she is howling like crazy at night and it breaks my heart.. any suggestions? How long does the Azodyl take to work? I feel hopeless... I will say.. I spoke to the vet that helps manufacture Azodyl.. and it should NOT be mixed into food for maximum results.. it should be given on an empty stomach and not eat immediately after. If necessary, open and mix into a spoon of yogurt or cottage cheese...but try to just shove it down unopened for best results.

My 8 yr old cat has been on azodyl for 2 1/2 yrs now and i believe this medication has improved his life. one month ago my 4 yr old cat was diagnosed with kidney failure and i started him on azodyl as soon as i could and his values came down tremendously. today he runs around chasing and beating up his 2 yr old cousin kitty. I truly believe in Azodyl and will continue to use it as long as i can and as a veterinary technician myself i highly recommend this medication. i feel bad for those pet owners who can not medicate their dog or cat as i know it is very frustrating to them when they lose the trust of their beloved pet. Try your best but always remember the quality of your pet is most important

I have a 9 yr old english mastiff.I took her to the vet for routine lab work just to make sure and it came back elevated bun creatine and amylase levels. We caught the kidney problems in the first stage. I was on eagle pack and switched to rx k-d dog food and axoydl I will keep you posted but my vet said she had a dog that was in kidney failure and switched to both and the dog lived another 2 years. My vet is not out to sell sell sell she gave me the bottle of axoydl no charge. I know you have to pay close attention to the dog food you feed.

Working well for my Shih Tzu. Had trouble swallowing large capsule, spitting it out. I cut a hot dog up into 8 pieces, poke a hole into the middle of each piece & insert capsule into the hole. He thinks he`s getting a treat & rarely spits the capsule out. Wish I had an idea for cats.

My cat Charley was diagnosed 1 1/2 yrs ago with crf. My suggestion for anybody giving this big of a pill to a cat would be to use a pill plunger, dip the end of the pill in a little butter, and have a small syringe of water nearby. Kneel and put the cat between your legs, pry open their mouth, pop the pill in towards the back of the throat, hold their mouth closed gently & massage their throat until they swallow. Can squirt a small bit of water into the side of their mouth to help the process of swallowing. We`ve been doing this routine nightly, followed by a little treat, and have had no problems at all. I do believe Azodyl has prolonged his life, since the vet & staff thought he would only survive a week. It brought all his levels down.

My 17 year old cat had come down with renal failure and is now on Azodyl as of yesterday. My vet said she checked with the company that makes it and said it was okay to open the pill and sprinkle the contents on the food. Any food! I got some canned chicken breast since Beauty loves it and put the meds in it and mix it and he eating it very well.

My dog won`t take the pill. We tried wrapping in cheese and he eats the cheese but spits out the pill. I have tried it in his food but sometimes he throws up his food. What to do? They say not to crush or open capsule.

I had high hopes for Azodyl, but I cannot successfully give it to my cat. She`s a 12 year old Himalayan recently diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. I`ve tried everything from a piller, to mixing it in a treat for her. She won`t go for it, and I`m over stressing her out. The next time I get her levels checked if they`re still going up I`ll probably try Epakitin (which I`d buy from PetsTruly). I`m disappointed I can`t use the Azodyl, but I don`t want my cat to hide from me all the time and undergo the torture of getting a pill.

My 81/2 year old hyme was put on azodyl 2 months ago. My kittys Bun and creatine came down 50% in just 2 1/2 weeks! When I saw this product on this web site, I was excited, because I saved 50% on the cost! Thanks! I have added Epitakin 2 weeks ago.

My 18 year old dog was diagnosed with renal failure a year ago and a vet tech recommended Azodyl. She has been on it about 3 weeks and she is much happier and also smells much better. Prior to the Azodyl she would walk around all the time with her tail down and between her legs. Now her tail stands straight out and wags. We have also been given her a gram of Epakitin in yogurt daily. We wrap her Azodyl in a piece of shaved ham or mix it with other people food. The Epakitin is a powder easily mixes in yogurt which she loves. She is a different dog.

Not pleased. My dog (18 years)was on Azodyl and Epakitin for a total of 4 days. She got worse and was put down. Also, the manufacturer should make the Azodyl in 2 capsule sizes to allow for convenient dosing. My poor animal was scared to death whenever she had to swallow that enormous capsule. That didn`t help her or me in dealing with the disease. Be practical!

Mic is 7 years old. Month and a half ago her kidneys failed or worked only 25%. Two things. It must be given orally. Shove it in. It is for the life of the animal. Do not mix it with food. The cat has been on azodyl for 17 days now. She eats, goes out. It is not the same. She is letarghic, tired, hides from time to time. But she eats. They need lots of fresh water. Change water often. That is my advice so far. I would like to know what how long will it take for the cat to recover. She is not the same but is alive. One thing I can not seem to find out is whether azodyl has any sideffects and how long will it take for the cat to bounce back. I will keep you posted.

I am impressed with the service of PetsTruly.com. I ordered this product on a Monday and received it 4 days later and it was still cool. I`ve only been using it a couple of weeks now, so not sure how it will affect BUN and Creatinine numbers, but it makes sense that it should work because you are eliminating waste products through an outlet other than the damaged kidneys. The pill is a little large, but I`ve found that dipping an end of it in my cat`s wet food and dropping it to the back of her throat followed by a syringe with a little bit of water makes the process very easy for both of us.

(2009-07-07)

My veterinarian recommended both Azodyl and Epakitin for my cat. No problem with the Epakitin since it is mixed with food. However, I need suggestions for giving the Azodyl since it is such a large capsule. She won`t come near me if I force it down, and Aven`s idea of following with a treat didn`t work.

So far so good! Bella was failing. Very rapid decline over a few months. The vet said it is not good and really did not expect her to live very long at all. A friend recommended this product and after about 2 weeks, we retested and the BUN came down from way over 117. I will recheck her again in a few weeks. Love it! She has been acting like a puppy again!

I rated this product on 2-20-09 and I can give the same positive rating now 5 months later. My cat Paco continues to do well even with his heart and kidney situation. My homeopathic vet HIGHLY recommended Azodyl for Paco so I`ve had him on it now for about 8 months. The capsules are very easy for him to swallow so I have no difficulty giving it to him. Having ordered the product 2 or 3 times by now, I continue to be impressed with the packaging and fast shipping... well packed in ice packs, arrives cool to cold just as it`s supposed to, and arrives ON TIME. Thanks for the wonderful service. For those of us with kidney diseased pets you provide real peace of mind with your product and service.

No comments on Azodyl. Tutu our Shih Tzu is 13 years old and has kidney problems. Unfortunately complications are setting in. She is deaf, no strength in her legs and eyes are troubling her. We don`t believe Azodyl can help the complications.

My Wasabi-Wu is thirteen. She spent 2 years on treatment for hyperthyroid disease and then radioactive iodine treatment. She got better and then worse due to kidney disease. She has been on Azodyl twice a day for 3 months. Yes, it`s a BIG pill for a little cat, but for a two minute a day battle she has a quality life. Attacking the bed covers, playing with her toys, and generally getting into everything just like she did when she was younger. Thank you so much for our quality time.

(2009-06-02)

My 16 year old cat had very poor kidney function and after 1 month on Azodyl (mo ing and night), her blood test Saturday showed 3-4 point improvement in each of the three counts. We also switched his diet to Hills` K/D feline for weak kidneys. While he eats well, he still lost a half pound from last month`s visit so that is a conce . Vet said next step is saline IV twice a week (not looking forward to that) but we`ll give it another month and see if needed. Tip for pill giving -- when I give the pill, I immediately follow it with a small piece of chicken (his favorite). So now when he hears me go to the fridge and shake the Azodyl bottle, he also knows he`s going to get a treat so he comes running. Took all that stress out of it.

My cat who is 20.5 years old has been on azodyl twice daily (unopened caps administered orally as directed) and I can`t say for sure how much improvement I`m seeing because CRF cats are so up and down regardless. I think I will know more in 2 more weeks. I am fairly certain he is improving because he seems more alert and doesnt just sleep all day now. Any kind of activity for a cat who is this old and suffering with CRF is a plus. I feel like he is happier and not feeling as toxic since on the supplement. He is also taking Epakitan, pancreatin with food, EFA`s and certain standard process brand supplements- whole body and feline renal formula.

My Cat was diagnosed with Kidney trouble the beginning of January 2009. She was put on Azodyl at that time. I was told to give her 1 capsule a day. I was told that I could open it up and sprinkle on her food. It didn`t help her. Her BUN was at a 51 and elevated to a 177. Her Creatine was at 3.0 and went to a 3.5. She passed away today at 17 years old. I don`t know if it was because I opened up the capsule instead of giving it to her whole. But there was no way in the world my cat would take that capsule whole.

(2009-05-17)

The stuff worked great, with a 25% reduction in BUN and Creatnin after 4 wks! But I had to give up. The dopes at Vetoquinol irresponsibly licensed the manufacture to Kibow, which idiotically puts this great medication in huge human-sized capsules (they have a dream that they can make more dough selling to humans... thanks a lot). Duh, it`s a veterinary product, as in `VEToquinol`! Why don`t they put it in 2 capsules and let us give more capsules with less pain. Giving a little kitty a big capsule is torture! Wake up Kibow! Exercise some responsible licensing, VEToquinol!

My 19 year old cat passed away last winter, but not from renal failure. I gave her two Azodyl every day for more than 6 years. Her kidneys never did get any worse than when our wonderful vet gave me the option of dyalisis or the Azodyl pill. I chose the pill and my cat would remind me if I was late giving it to her. It was the most wonderful thing I ever did for her. She was very thin but active and had good blood results up until the last two days. I think she was tired of living. When the vet first discovered her kidney problemswhe put her on the pill and it made a big difference in just a few days. If I forgot a pill the next day she would be down a little but whe would perk up in a couple of hours. This is a great treatment for a very serious illness. I can hardly wait until Azodyl is approved for humans. It will save hundreds of lives as it saved the life of my MaryAnn for sooooo..... many years. Thank you Thank you for Azodyl.

I`ve been giving my 8 year old cat Epakitin since June 2008 when she was diagnosed with weak to poor kidney failure and it brought her back from a dispondent state where I thought I was going to loose her. Azodyl was prescribed at the same time but I could not administer it. I did not know until now that it is supposed to be refrigerated. I`d like to try to giving it to her again. Can anyone tell me if I can give it to her if it has not been refrigerated since June? Also, even though her disposition came back to her loving and friendly self with Epakitin, she has blood in her urine and sprays which she never did/had before. Anyone have any suggestions or comments on what I can do? Thanks.

I just started Azodyl with my 18 year old cat. He didn`t look like he would make it through the week, but now instead of thinking that the end is near, we are wondering when his appetite will come back. If this drug works, I assume by reading Susan`s comments that this will be a lifelong venture, 2 pills a day. RIght?

My dog was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure at 10 months, he is now over 2 and a half years old and you would never know there is anything wrong with him. I had been getting Azodyl from my vet, they were charging twice the amount here. I was impressed with the fact that the Azodyl arrived surrounded by cold packs. We use the Azodyl along with the Epakitin powder, seems to be doing the trick!

Our vet told me six months ago that my dog was beginning to have a kidney problem. He suggested I start her on Azodyl, which I did. She had a six month checkup two weeks ago and the reading remained the same as six months ago. As he put it, the kidney problem is not getting worse. Continue to use Azodyl.

First, I was so impressed with how the product arrived wrapped to the hilt in ice packs and utterly protected. That alone gave me a really positive feeling about this company and product, that the company respects their own product enough to give it that level of protection. My cat Paco is only 6 and recently diagnosed with either acute kidney infection or possibly disease. He was so sick I didn`t think he would make it. 2 months out he is doing really well, on a variety of therapeutic measures of which Azodyl came HIGLY recommended by my homeopathic vet. It`s easy for him to swallow so giving it is no problem. I trust it is an important part of his healing and maintenance. I will continue ordering it from this company. Thanks for the wonderful service.

Our siamese, Poe, was diagnosed two years ago with chronic renal failure at age 7. She was in intensive care for a week at that time and the prognosis upon her release was grim. I continued the oral meds given while she was a patient which included two daily doses (1/2 capsule each)of Azodyl mixed in with baby food and Epakitin (another med which works synergistically with Azodyl)and daily injections of fluids (lactated ringers solution). After about two weeks she perked up and her kidney labs reflected dramatic improvement! She is holding steady still today...still on the same daily treatment. I attribute her good health despite her serious condition to her meds, Azodyl, Epakitin & fluids....and lots of love goes a long way, too!

I was asked to comment on Azodyl but I just began using it for my kitty who is in renal failure and it`s too soon to know anything definitive. I feel it would be unfair to comment either way at this time. I`m hoping for the best though.
